Last day of our trip away and the weather again looking ok, so decided on a quick Corbett, which Toni and Kate decided to have a go at as well!
The trip from the cottage up through Bealach na Ba to the viewpoint was pretty hair raising, a long single track road up via steep switch backs and unfortunately loads of traffic today, but we made it safely to the start point, a great viewpoint overlooking the Isles of Raasay and Skye!
Just a short distance from the car park a rough track heads east, after a few turns there is a steeper ascent up to the transmitter and cairn. From here we turned south, first down the hill a little then onto rockier ground for around half a kilometer. At this point we stopped for a short break before heading uphill a little and then down quite a steep section.
Kates knee was giving her a lot of problems, so she and Ailidh decided to turn back as me and Toni went on towards the Corbett. First up quite a steep climb then a short rocky descent before a straightforward push up to the summit of the Corbett Sgurr a' Chaorachain. Really fantastic views today from the top and throughout the whole walk really.
On our return, we found a bypass path to the east of the intermediate summit and then followed the cliff edge a little more back up to the transmitter. Sticking to the edge was definately easier going.
We caught up with Ailidh and Kate on the track back down to the car park, Kate really struggling with her knee, but she was still glad to give it a go.
